Searching, article structure, and how to read what we publish.

Search syntax

Field tags follow the term in square brackets: semaglutide[Title]. Combine terms with AND, OR, NOT in capitals. Phrases go in double quotes. Truncation uses an asterisk (tirzepat*). The advanced search builder generates this syntax for you.

Reading an article page

Each article opens with a standfirst summarizing the main finding or verdict in one paragraph. Study reports carry a key-numbers box (sample size, duration, main effect) and end with a full source citation, including the trial registry ID or DOI so you can check the primary literature yourself.

What our index includes — and does not mean

BioMed Abstracts is an editorial magazine, not a bibliographic database. Coverage of a study or product is not endorsement. A statistically significant result in a single short trial does not establish clinical benefit, and citation counts measure attention rather than validity. Marketing claims that cite our coverage as proof of efficacy misrepresent what an article is.
