Scope note

A long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and, at a higher dose, for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity. Administered once weekly by subcutaneous injection or once daily as an oral tablet.

Structure. Semaglutide is a 31-amino-acid peptide analogue of human GLP-1 with a C18 fatty-diacid side chain extending its half-life to about one week.
